Abstract
This article examines the Civil Rights Movement in the United States, focusing on the struggles and achievements of African Americans in their fight for racial equality and social justice. The study covers key events, including the Brown v. Board of Education decision, the Montgomery Bus Boycott, and the March on Washington, analyzing the role of prominent figures such as Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, and Malcolm X. The paper explores the legal, political, and social barriers that African Americans faced, as well as the strategies employed by civil rights organizations like the NAACP and SCLC to challenge segregation, disenfranchisement, and discrimination. Through an examination of primary sources such as speeches, letters, and legislative documents, the article assesses the movement’s successes in securing legal rights and the continued struggle for racial equality in the post-1960s era. The paper concludes by reflecting on the legacy of the Civil Rights Movement in shaping contemporary American society and politics.
