Abstract

Biometric Authentication has emerged as an advanced security technology that uses unique biological and behavioral characteristics of individuals for identity verification and access control. Common biometric methods include fingerprint recognition, facial recognition, iris scanning, voice recognition, and retina scanning. With the rapid growth of digital technologies, online services, mobile banking, e-governance, and smart devices, biometric authentication systems are increasingly being adopted to improve security, convenience, and user identification processes. Biometric authentication provides several advantages over traditional password-based systems. Unlike passwords or identification cards, biometric characteristics are difficult to duplicate or steal, making authentication systems more reliable and secure. The technology is widely used in smartphones, banking systems, healthcare institutions, border security, attendance systems, and law enforcement agencies. It also supports faster verification processes and reduces the risk of unauthorized access and identity fraud.
