Abstract
This article examines South Korea’s post-war economic recovery, focusing on the processes that transformed the country from a war-torn nation into one of the leading industrialized economies in Asia. The paper explores the key economic policies implemented during the 1950s and 1960s, particularly under the leadership of President Park Chung-hee, whose government promoted rapid industrialization through state-led initiatives. The study focuses on the role of key industries such as textiles, steel, and electronics in the country’s economic transformation. The research also examines the role of foreign aid, particularly from the United States, in supporting South Korea’s recovery efforts and the political decisions that influenced the direction of economic development. By analyzing primary sources, government records, and international economic data, the paper investigates the strategies that helped South Korea overcome the devastation of the Korean War and build a foundation for long-term economic success. The article concludes by reflecting on the legacy of these economic policies and their impact on the global competitiveness of South Korean industries today.
