Main Article Content
Abstract
This article explores the influence of Chinese communist ideology on Korean Marxist thought during the 20th century, particularly in the context of the Korean independence movement and the Korean War. The paper traces the development of Marxist thought in Korea, examining the role of Chinese communism as an ideological foundation for the Korean Communist Party and the establishment of North Korea under Kim Il-sung. It looks at how Mao Zedong’s policies and Marxist-Leninist theory were adapted by Korean revolutionaries, especially in their efforts to resist Japanese colonialism and to create a socialist state in Korea. By analyzing political writings, speeches, and historical records, the article highlights the intersections and divergences between Chinese and Korean Marxist ideologies and how they shaped the political trajectory of both Koreas. The study concludes by reflecting on the lasting impact of Chinese communism on North Korea’s political system and the implications for inter-Korean relations today.
