The Primary Education System Between Theory and Practice
Main Article Content
Abstract
Primary education is regarded as the foundation upon which all subsequent educational stages are built, as it aims to provide learners with basic knowledge and to shape their cognitive and social personalities. However, this system faces a central issue concerning the balance between the theoretical and practical dimensions. The theoretical aspect focuses on consolidating the principles of reading, writing, arithmetic, and fundamental knowledge, whereas the practical aspect activates classroom and extracurricular activities and relies on experiments and modern educational tools that enhance the pupil’s ability to understand, think critically, and solve problems. Consequently, the success of the educational process is not measured solely by the quantity of knowledge acquired, but rather by the extent to which such knowledge can be employed in real-life contexts. This calls for a comprehensive revision of curricula in order to achieve integration between theoretical knowledge and practical application, as well as for balanced teacher training that enables educators to combine both dimensions effectively, thereby ensuring the quality of education and responding to the needs of both learners and society.
